5 Tips on How to Keep Your Focus

Hey everybody. Today we will focus on tips that will help you keep your focus when studying for that big test.We all know how it feels to study for a test. It’s boring, it’s repetitive and the last thing you want to do is to actually be studying. I hear you, it’s not fun but thankfully there are some tips and tricks you can use to get you off your desk and back to your favourite activities!

Make some time.

Don’t try to just “wing it” by putting in 5 minutes here and 5 minutes there. Dedicate a period of time where your full attention is on your task at hand. The best way to do this is to plan it ahead. Set a specific time where you know you will be distraction free and get it done.

Set a goal.

Once you have set a time, make sure you know what you want to get accomplished. There is nothing worse than setting a time to sit down and study only to sit there with no idea where to start. Plan your material and set your intentions for the night.

Take breaks.

As important as planning some time and setting a goal it’s equally as important to take some breaks. In most people, after a certain amount of time, your brain fails to retain information. It’s important to clear your mind every so often. I would recommend, for most people; to take a 5 minute break every 30 minutes of work. Go out and get some air or take a drink of water. I wouldn’t recommend anything too drastic like pounding down a couple beers but you get my point.

Do not procrastinate.

The by-product of not setting a time is procrastination. It happens to everybody, your mind starts going through excuse after excuse as to why you should be doing something other than studying. The sooner you set concrete plans to get your studying done, the better your test results will be and the faster you will be out enjoying yourself.

Clean your workspace.

It might be your physical desk or cleaning up your computer. Cleaning your workspace will prevent distractions and procrastination. If you have a million other windows open on your computer and your trying to get through our free work samples your bound to get distracted. Close all other windows you are not using for the purpose of studying and stay focused on your goals. Same thing applies to your physical desk. Keep the phone far away or on silent. I for one know for a fact it’s the main source of procrastination so I’m sure this doesn’t only apply to me.

There you have it! Be sure to keep these 5 tips in mind for your next big test. It might prove helpful.
