About MechanicalAptitudeTest.org

MechanicalAptitudeTest.org has been helping people get ready for mechanical aptitude tests since 2012. This page explains who we are, where the site came from, and why it works the way it does.

Since 2012: free help first

This site started as a free study resource: clearly worked sample questions on gears, pulleys, levers, tools, electrical circuits, and the other topics that show up on mechanical aptitude tests. Over more than a decade, those free questions have been used by thousands of candidates preparing for apprenticeship entrance exams, utility-company hiring batteries, industrial and maintenance jobs, and military entrance testing.

That free material is still here, and it’s still free — no email address required. We think you should be able to judge the quality of our explanations before you spend a dollar.

Rebuilt in 2026: a full practice platform

In 2026 we rebuilt the site into a complete practice platform: Mechanical Aptitude All-Access. It combines full-length timed simulations matched to the formats of the major mechanical tests — Bennett-style, Ramsay-style, Wiesen-style, EIAT, IBEW/Electrical Training Alliance-style, EEI CAST, and ASVAB mechanical comprehension — with untimed topic drills and a worked explanation for every single question.

What makes this site different

  • Every answer is explained. A score alone teaches you nothing. Every question here comes with a step-by-step explanation, so every mistake becomes a lesson.
  • Simulations match the real format. Same question counts, same time limits, same question styles as the tests they simulate — so test day feels familiar, not foreign.
  • One payment, no subscription. $67 USD once, 365 days of access, unlimited retakes. Nothing renews, nothing recurs, and access simply expires when your year is up. We built it this way because surprise auto-renewals are the single biggest complaint about test-prep sites, and we want no part of that.
  • Original questions. Every question and diagram is written and drawn by us. Nothing is copied from real exams or sourced from test-taker recall — see our disclaimer.
  • A real guarantee. 30 days, unconditional, money back to your original payment method. No forms, no interrogation.

Who we are

MechanicalAptitudeTest.org is an independent test-preparation publisher — independently owned and operated, based in Canada, serving candidates across the United States and Canada. The same publisher operates firerecruitment.ca, a firefighter-recruitment prep platform whose practice-test system — hundreds of original questions, timed simulations, per-question answer review — is the proven foundation this site is built on.

We won’t invent credentials we don’t have: we are not psychometricians and we don’t administer any of these exams. What we bring is more than a decade of writing, testing, and refining practice questions, and a close view of what real candidates actually struggle with — pacing, unfamiliar diagram styles, and half-remembered physics. That’s exactly what this platform is built to fix.

We are not affiliated with, sponsored by, or endorsed by any test publisher. Full details are on our Trademark & Content Disclaimer page.
